Frequently Asked Questions
What are the ingredients?
Grass-fed Bovine Colostrum. Contains: Milk.
What is first milking colostrum?
First milking colostrum is the colostrum collected within the first day following the birth of the calf. Colostrum collected within this time window has the highest level of bioactives and is the best quality colostrum you can get.
At Pasture Labs, we exclusively collect first milking colostrum while other colostrums on the market collect first, second and third milking.
What makes Pasture Labs different from other brands?
We only source first-day colostrum - collected within 24 hours after every calf is nourished - to preserve maximum bioactive potency. Our colostrum stays unstripped, whole, and as close to nature as possible. Unlike many brands that skim or strip fat, we keep colostrum in its whole, full-fat form, maintaining all naturally occurring nutrients, peptides, and immune factors for optimal efficacy.
How does Pasture Labs source its colostrum? Are the cows grass-fed?
We make it a priority to source our colostrum from dairy farmers who treat their cows with love and respect.
The cows are grazing on pasture as long as weather permits and in the cold seasons they are provided shelter and fed products derived from grass like hay.
We collect first milking colostrum from grass-fed U.S. dairy cows after the calf is born and it gets theirs. Our cows are never treated with rBST r(BGH), antibiotics, or hormones.
Do calves get their share of colostrum?
Our colostrum is thoughtfully sourced, making sure we always put our baby cow friends first.
Cows, just like humans, produce more colostrum than their offspring will drink.
We always make sure the calves get fed their share, and then we collect the surplus and turn it into the world’s greatest superfood for our human friends.
Is it safe for lactose-intolerant people?
Yes, it contains only trace amounts of lactose and is generally well tolerated. However, if you have a true dairy allergy, unfortunately colostrum is not for you.
Is it safe for pregnant women and children?
Yes, bovine colostrum is generally safe during pregnancy and for children when sourced cleanly, but it’s best to check with your healthcare provider or pediatrician before adding any new supplement.
Is it third-party tested?
Yes. Every batch is independently tested by third-party labs for heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants. We stand for real ingredients, full transparency, and results you can trust.
Is it pasteurized?
Legally, and to make it safe for our customers, we have to pasteurize our colostrum. All pasteurization methods use heat to some degree, what varies is the degree to which it is heated.
There are 2 main methods used in the pasteurization of colostrum powder. Spray dried (also known as high-temperature), where it is heated for 15 seconds at 161 degrees OR low-temperature (also known as freeze-dried) where it is heated for 30 minutes at 145 degrees.
We have thoroughly tested our colostrum through both methods and found that we were able to maintain a higher quality, more bioactive potent colostrum using the spray dry method.
